Ask a Strategist: The Corona Virus is forcing people to work from home. What tips do you have for bringing communication online effectively?
The Internet may be one of the only things we will not lose during this international pandemic. As internet companies have pledged not to cut off services for two months, many are having to quickly learn the ins and outs of teleworking.
Here are 4 quick tips that area good to know during these times:
1. Invest in a high-quality headset – Headphones that have a microphone will come in handy for all phone or web conferences.
2. Invest in a webcam for web conferencing – Most base computer devices have one but if yours does not or is defective, now is the time to invest in one with at least 720P resolution.
3. Take advantage of free platforms like Slack – Slack is an app that brings the team together virtually. It allows for one-on-one video and voice calls between teammates, access to 10,000 of your team’s most recent messages, and 10 integrations with other apps like Google Drive and Office 365.
4. Create a quiet space to work – Whether you have kids or pets, working from home can be very distracting. It is important to stick with your daily routine and stay focused. Even hanging a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign outside your door to let others know you need space may help.
